Huawei Chief Says Samsung is Biggest Rival, not Xiaomi

huawei ascend g7 official Huawei Chief Says Samsung is Biggest Rival, not Xiaomi

It is easy to think that Xiaomi is Huawei’s biggest rival, after-all the company showed up in the Chinese market and stole plenty of thunder from the older Huawei. However, according to Huawei CEO Richard Yu, the upstart Xiaomi is not the company’s biggest rival at all… that distinction goes to Korean giant Samsung, the company that is the biggest smartphone manufacturer on the planet.

Huawei is locked in a battle with Lenovo, LG, and Xiaomi for third place in the market, with all companies fighting to reach runaway leaders Apple and Samsung. Huawei sold more devices last year than Xiaomi, and Yu was less than kind about the fellow Chinese brand. He called out some of their devices as copies, bland, and boring, while he also said the company had “no chance” in the high end market.

Yu sees market leader Samsung as the biggest rival, clearly indicating that Huawei is looking ahead and not at those around it.
