Asus's ZenWatch has only been available for two months, although it has been with us since its September announcement at IFA. However, Asus is already looking to the next version and the company is apparently working on a wearable that will deliver significantly better battery life.
The ZenWatch is one of the best looking smartphones running Android Wear, but like other devices rocking that platform, it has average battery life at best. In fact, the most one can hope for is 2 days from the juicer. Asus is looking to address that, but judging the words of the company’s chairman, that could mean leaving Android Wear behind.
Asus chairman Jonney Shih said that the ZenWatch 2 will be a simplified “central processing unit with operating system”. The result of that will apparently be a battery that will function for 1 week.
