Kodak is a big name in photography, but like other companies in the field it has taken a significant hit from smartphones, with most mobile devices fulfilling many people’s point and shoot requirements. Kodak has decided to hit back by entering the smartphone market and it has teamed up with Bullit Group to build a range of Android handsets.
The company is obviously putting a photography based slant on these devices and says they will be for the "consumers who want a high-end experience but aren't always as comfortable using increasingly complicated mobile devices."
Kodak has a lot riding on this, not least its reputation. As a camera specialist the company should be delivering a smartphone photo experience that is nearly unrivalled. Bullit Group will actually build the smartphones, the company is best known for other niche smartphones from the likes of Ted Baker, JCB, and Caterpillar.
The Kodak smartphones will be available early in 2015 and are likely to be launched during CES at the start of January.
