January will be hectic month for Chinese brand Xiaomi. The company (the third biggest smartphone maker in the world) will launch a new flagship, the Mi5, a new updated version for the Redmi 1S, and the Redmi Note 2. One of those products is widely rumored to be unveiled at CES in Las Vegas next week, making it Xiaomi's first product launch outside of China. I hope that means the company is planning on rolling out a device in the US, and I hope that device is the Redmi Note 2.
Yes, if we got the Mi5 flagship it would be cool, but as there are loads of quality high end devices out there I am more excited about the Redmi Note 2. It is ultra-affordable, looks good and is solidly spec’d, it could have a similar impact as the Moto G. Take a look at the device in the main image, it is a very good smartphone with good materials and solid specs, and on top of that it will probably cost under $150.
Its reported specs include a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920-pixel LCD display, a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 or MediaTek MT6752 system chip, 2GB of RAM, and 16 gigs of internal storage.
