LG made an odd choice with the G3 flagship last year, choosing to keep the handset on Android 4.4.2 and not upgrade it to Android 4.4.3 or 4.4.4. Of course, since then the device has since had an upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop, but it seems that the G3 will not be tasting anymore Lollipop in the future as LG is employing a similar tactic to last year.
That means that the company’s fantastic smartphone flagship from 2014 will not receive Android 5.1 or any future Lollipop builds, but will instead move straight to Android M. That software is expected to land in the fall, so according to LG Hellos (Greek division of the company), G3 users will not be getting any software updates in the coming months.
Of course, the G3's replacement, the LG G4 is rolling out right now with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
