DoCoMo Places Sticker Warning for Overheating Devices with Snapdragon 810

qualcomm snapdragon DoCoMo Places Sticker Warning for Overheating Devices with Snapdragon 810
Qualcomm is having a terrible time because of its Snapdragon 810 processor and things are going from bad to worse. The newest flagship processor from the company has been causing overheating problems in smartphones, and while it is something Qualcomm denied on newer versions there has been evidence of overheating in the new Sony Xperia Z3+. To make matters worse, Japanese carrier DoCoMo (the largest in the country) is piling on the pressure by putting an overheating warning on smartphones with the Snapdragon 810.

There are three smartphones in the company’s portfolio that run the Snapdragon 810, the Sony Xperia Z4, Sharp Aquos Zeta SA-03G, and the Fujitsu F-04G. Those handsets will now come with a stickered warning from DoCoMo, and we have to wonder how many carriers will follow this lead.

The sticker offers advice, such as use a tablet in your house instead of your handset, while also adding that the device should be turned off while charging. That certainly helps prevent overheating, but it is a shocking situation for handsets that cost hundreds of dollars. Qualcomm is reeling from this chipset and we imagine manufacturers who used it are losing some trust in the company.
