Windows 10 Mobile Leaked Interface Images

w10mobile 10149 leak1 Windows 10 Mobile Leaked Interface Images
Windows 10 will be landing on PCs at the end of next month, but its smartphone counterpart (Windows 10 Mobile) will arrive later, during the third quarter. An October launch date is mooted at the moment for the mobile version of the platform, but we can have a closer look at the Windows 10 Mobile design thanks to these leaked images of build number 10149.

It is worth noting straight away that this is not the final build, so there is plenty of room for change. In fact, Microsoft is still working on features and finalizing exactly what will be on the operating system. The tiled interface from Windows 8 (love it or hate it) has been retained, but it has also been refined and looks more professional and elegant.

Take a look at the images and judge for yourself... are you impressed by what you see so far?

HTC Aero, a Hero Smartphone to get Excited About?

HTC 1 M8 back logo HTC Aero, a Hero Smartphone to get Excited About?
The HTC One M9 has been something of a flop, under-selling despite actually being a stellar smartphone that is good looking and well spec’d. The handset has failed to ignite with the consumer base like previous models, but HTC has confirmed it will launch another hero device this year and according to Evan Blass (he of @evleaks fame) it will be called the HTC Aero.

The device is expected to arrive in October and other reports are talking up the Aero up as a fantastic smartphone, one that recalls HTC’s reputation for bleeding edge design (ala the One M7). In terms of specs, HTC is expected to go all out and deck the Aero with the best hardware that is available at its launch. That will include such goodies as 4GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, a Quad HD display, and an improved camera.

HTC One M9+ Arrive in Europe

page htc one m9 plus h11 HTC One M9+ Arrive in Europe
The HTC One M9+ is a more impressive variant of the company's M9 flagship, the Taiwanese company launched it two months ago exclusively for the Asian market. HTC said that the device will not make it to the USA or Europe, but where there is a will there is a way as a Dutch based online retailer is now offering imported unlocked One M9+ handsets.

GSSMinfo only has the grey model available, so no gold or silver-gold options, but this is the best that HTC has to offer right now and it is available in Europe. The price is sort of off-putting though as it will cost the same as $850… ouch.

Without a doubt the One M9 Plus is a hell of a smartphone, featuring market leading specs and HTC’s gorgeous design. However, it leaves a lot of questions, such as why would HTC even launch this device in the first place? I mean, shouldn’t this handset have just been the normal One M9 announced at MWC last month? Why launch a flagship and then make a better version a month later? It is easy to imagine that there are some people who have pre-ordered the One M9 feeling pretty let down by HTC at the moment.

Sure, the M9 Plus is China bound and will not be released in Europe or North America, but still consumers in those regions will always know that there is a better M9 out there, and that their handset is second tier. It is even more mystifying when considering that the One E9 is also available and also bests the normal One M9 in some departments. It and the new One M9 Plus both have a Quad HD screen, and if I was awaiting my normal One M9 I would be asking.
“Where is my Quad HD screen?”
Perhaps HTC is finally saying the Asian market is more important, after-all the company has been struggling in Western markets.

Here is a quick glance at the key HTC One M9 Plus specs:

Android 5.0 Lollipop with HTC 'China Sense'

Dimensions: 150.99 x 71.99 x 9.61mm

5.2-inch LCD display with 1440 x 2560-pixel (Quad HD) resolution

MediaTek MT6795T octa-core chip clocked at up to 2.2GHz

3GB of RAM

32GB of internal storage

20MP main camera, 'UltraPixel' front cam

Xiaomi Mi 4i Shipping Globally for $238

Xiaomi logo tablet Xiaomi Mi 4i Shipping Globally for $238
Despite huge success in recent years, Xiaomi has yet to really become popular around the world, which is entirely the company’s choice as it favours its home Chinese market and a few other regions in Asia. The brand did announce that it will be expanding its portfolio worldwide during this year and the Mi 4i smartphone was one of the first to leave China. The device was launched as an India exclusive, earlier this year, but is now available in its own right shipped globally.

In India the handset was very affordable at $200, and even then it could have been shipped worldwide for $300, still reasonable considering the excellent specs. Xiaomi has now sweetened the deal for worldwide consumers by letting them get the Mi 4i shipped for a bargain $238.

Why is it a bargain? Well, for that money you get a Full HD 1080p 5-inch screen, an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (sadly not expandable), a 13 megapixel rear camera, a 5 megapixel front facer, and a 3120 mAh juicer.

Ubuntu Edition MX4 Launched in Europe by Meizu

meizu mx4 coloris france Ubuntu Edition MX4 Launched in Europe by Meizu
Ubuntu is hardly the most mainstream of mobile platforms, but the software does have a hardcore base of followers. Those people do not have much choice in terms of new handsets that run the system, but the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is one option. So far that device has been an Asia exclusive, but the Chinese company has now announced the MX4 UE is heading to Europe.

In fact it will land June 25th (tomorrow), but getting your hands on one may not be that easy Meizu is only selling the device on an invite basis. You need to head to Meizu’s website and complete the “Oragami Wall” and from there you may win an invite, although the company has not said how many it is handing out per day.

The handset will cost 299 Euros when it launched tomorrow around Europe.

Windows 10 Mobile Coming in October According to Documents

win10 leak 500x309 Windows 10 Mobile Coming in October According to Documents

With the launch of Windows 10 for computers less then a week away it leaves us in the mobile market wondering when we will get some Windows 10 update love.  While Microsoft themselves have been pretty tight lipped about it the main rumor was "sometime in the fall"  Now we have some information that seems to back that rumor up.

The chart you see above is from a French Carrier French carrier SFR and shows almost ALL Lumias across the board getting the Windows 10 update in October or November.  Missing from this list is all non-Lumia devices and while there aren't that many flagship non-Lumia's out there if I had a HTC One for Windows I'd be a bit worried.

Does this mean you will be getting your update then? Not really this is in France and it would be kind of tough for Microsoft to push this update to all 1 billion users at once.  However this does mean that something is coming for the holiday season.  New OS, new devices and hopefully for Microsoft new sales.

Verizon Announces Microsoft Lumia 735

Lumia 735 hero1 Verizon Announces Microsoft Lumia 735
Verizon has revealed today that it will be offering the Microsoft Lumia 735 in the United States, the first time the device will be available in the country (with a major carrier) since it launched last year. The largest carrier in the U.S. will offer the handset from today, giving Microsoft the biggest network in its homeland to try and pick up sales.

It has been known for some time that Big Red would start carrying the Lumia 735, so it is nice to see the company finally announce what is among Microsoft’s best devices (which is a little sad to say really). The Lumia 735 will be available for $79.99 on a two year contract plan, or 24 months of $8 payments on Verizon Edge Plan.

Rumor: LG G4 Pro Coming in the Fall

lglogo 500x261 Rumor: LG G4 Pro Coming in the Fall

Even as LG announced the the LG G4 earlier in the year there was a rumor that  a higher spec'd version of this device on the way.   Now it seems there may be a little light shed on what that device may be from the social media site Weibo.  The new device will be the LG G4 Pro and will be released in sometime in the fall.

This device will take the LG G4's amazing specs and kick them up even further.

  • 5.8-inch screen
  • 1440 x 2560 resolution
  • Snapdragon 820 Soc
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 32GB/64GB of internal storage
  • 27MP camera rear facing camera
  • 8MP front facing camera
  • all-metal body

As far as rumors go this one is a 6 out of 10 I believe LG will step up with another device for the holiday season however the specs should be taken with a huge grain of salt.  If it is true LG users have a tough choice get the G4 right now or wait till the fall and get more powerful pro.

page asus zenfone 2 500x375 Asus to Ship the ZenFone 2 With 128Gb of Storage For 375USD

Asus has seemed to come out of nowhere a couple years ago has been steadily winning the hearts and minds of smartphone users ever since.   Offering new and exciting ideas before others.  Now they are set to announce a device with a whopping 128gb of internal storage tomorrow in Taiwan.

They are going to announce a variant of the ZenFone 2 with the insane amount of storage at a not so insane price of only 375USD.  Not much else is expected to change on this device you can check out the specs below.

  • 128Gb of internal memory
  • quad-core 64-bit 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 CPU

LG G3 will move Straight to Android M

lg g311 LG G3 will move Straight to Android M
LG made an odd choice with the G3 flagship last year, choosing to keep the handset on Android 4.4.2 and not upgrade it to Android 4.4.3 or 4.4.4. Of course, since then the device has since had an upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop, but it seems that the G3 will not be tasting anymore Lollipop in the future as LG is employing a similar tactic to last year.

That means that the company’s fantastic smartphone flagship from 2014 will not receive Android 5.1 or any future Lollipop builds, but will instead move straight to Android M. That software is expected to land in the fall, so according to LG Hellos (Greek division of the company), G3 users will not be getting any software updates in the coming months.

Of course, the G3's replacement, the LG G4 is rolling out right now with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.

Samsung Debuts Galaxy Tab E

tw SM T560NZWABRI 001 White white Samsung Debuts Galaxy Tab E
Samsung has officially announced a new tablet to its portfolio today, with the Korean company launching the Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560). The slate was launched in Taiwan and is a mid-range tablet, although the specs are pretty low end to match an affordable price tag.

The Tab E comes with a 9.6-inch TFT with 800 x 1280 resolution, a quad core Spreadtrum SC7730SE processor clocked at 1.3GHz, and 1.5GB of RAM. Other specs include 8GB of storage space, micro SD card support to increase the capacity, a 5 megapixel rear camera, and a 2 megapixel front facer. Interestingly, there is a 5000mAh juicer powering the Tab E, and considering these lowly specs we are certain the new slate will provide stellar battery life. More disappointing is the fact the Galaxy Tab E comes with Android KitKat and not Lollipop, we doubt it will ever be updated.

Samsung said the Galaxy Tab E will launch in Taiwan at the end of June and will cost $225, we expect it will roll out worldwide later.

T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S6 Receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop

Samsung Galaxy S6 varient T Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S6 Receiving Android 5.1 Lollipop
T-Mobile has maintained Samsung’s promise and is now sending out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to its variant of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones. Samsung promised that the build would be arriving on its new flagship during June and it appears that T-Mobile is the first U.S. based carrier to confirm the upgrade.

You can expect to see the update over the air, but as is normal it is in stages so you may have to wait a few days to see it on your particular GS6. There are other ways of grabbing the Android 5.1 update, such as hooking your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge to a computer and use Samsung’s Kies app to download the update from Samsung.

In terms of looks, the S6 follows a new design ethos that started with the Galaxy Alpha back in September last year. It feels and looks premium, and oozes a quality Samsung's of the past simply never did, even the flagships ones. Yes, it looks dangerously like the iPhone 6, and I am sure that copying accusations may be levelled at Samsung on message boards and maybe in the courtrooms. However, there are only so many ways that a candy bar design can be made, so I for one am willing to give Samsung the benefit of the doubt.

The machined aluminum chassis sits sandwiched between two Gorilla Glass 4 panes, and the device feels solid and the build quality is excellent. The Galaxy S6 gets a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen, the newest Samsung built octa-core Exynos chipset, 3GB of RAM, LTE cat.6, a 16 megapixel rear camera, and 32GB of storage. Sadly, Samsung opted not to have a microSD card, which is the only real gripe on first impressions.

As promised, the TouchWiz experience has also been pared down and a UI that has often been accused of being laggy is apparently zippy and smooth now. We will be getting a play with the Galaxy S6 tomorrow, so we will give you a much more comprehensive look at this lighter software, and indeed the phone in general then.

Samsung Registers Galaxy S6 Note…What Does it Mean?

295484 samsung a world with out me is impossible 500x281 Samsung Registers Galaxy S6 Note...What Does it Mean?

Samsung has just registered a trade mark for the Galaxy S6 Note.  This is kind of confusing since you know there is already the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Note Edge and a ton of other Galaxy variables out there already.  So what's up with Samsung?

Guessing that they are simply stopping other manufactures from naming one of their "knock off" products a S6 Edge and fooling consumer in thinking it's a Samsung product.  I have seen more then one product out there named "Note 2000" or "Note 6.1"

That being said Samsung puts out a ton of devices in every form factor ever so it really wouldn't shock me if they put out another Note device in the next three months or so.  Thoughts on this?
