Reuters reported last week that Samsung had been in talks with Blackberry to buy the company for $7.5 billion, something that Blackberry quickly denied. Samsung was coyer on the matter, although the company has spoken of the report through co-CEO JK Shin.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal he said that there have been no discussions of a buyout, but the company hare talking about the possibility "to work with BlackBerry and develop this partnership, not acquire the company." Blackberry’s earlier rebuttal was, "BlackBerry has not engaged in discussions with Samsung with respect to any possible offer to purchase BlackBerry".
Reuters maintains that the story is real, saying that it has seen documental evidence of the deal. I guess this one will carry on, so watch this space.
