Oppo raised the curtain on a new smartphone in its Chinese homeland this week, and it is a decent looking and spec’d piece of kit. The Oppo U3 is a bigger handset that the Oppo N3 and Oppo N5, while it hits a nice sweet spot in the mid-range market in terms of hardware and price.
The Oppo U3 has a 5.9-inch screen with a Full HD 1080 x 1920 resolution, and that panel covers 75% of the handset, making it a sleek looking thing. Other specs include a 64-bit MediaTek MT6752 clocked at 1.7GHz and powered by eight cores. Elsewhere it has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on board storage, and a micro SD card slot, and a 3,000 mAh battery.
The U3 is running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Oppo’s own ColorOS over the top, and comes with dual SIM capabilities, a 13 megapixel Sony made camera on the rear and a 5 megapixel lens on the front. The smartphone is available in China and will cost the same as about $451.
