Xiaomi does not make much money, in fact the company rakes in single figure dollar amounts from each device. The Chinese giant sells phones affordably to snatch market share, a tactic that works but ultimately means Xiaomi needs to keep finding investors. The company announced is latest cash injection today ($1.1 billion on a $45 billion valuation) and in doing so confirmed that its next flagship device will launch next month.
Xiaomi president Lei Jun confirmed that the Mi5 will be landing sometime during January, matching earlier reports that claimed that it would land in the first month of 2015. It is still not clear if the company will have its first launch outside China by rolling the Mi4 successor out at the CES show in Las Vegas next week. Either way, we will not have to wait long to see the device.
