According to a report from Reuters Taiwanese company ASUS is very seriously considering buying out struggling handset maker HTC. While HTC has been mounting some form of a comeback as of late they have forecasted a loss for the latest quarter. This news is especially troubling since their flagship device was released and it's sales should have help them gain a healthy profit.
Asus Chairman Johnny Shih had this to say when asked about the rumored take over...
"Our chairman has chatted about the topic internally, Still, the chances of an actual takeover are not big as Asustek is a company that has depended on organic growth."
While it's just in the discussion stage now it is on the table. In the ever changing mobile landscape nothing can be ruled out. If you would have told me a decade ago that Nokia would be bought out by Microsoft I wouldn't have believed you it would sad to see HTC head down the same path.
