Samsung Galaxy S7 Renders (Offical!)
Last year’s Galaxy S6 was Samsung overhauling its flagship range. It was a ground up build that aimed to change the company’s direction, something it succeeded in doing with its premium metal and glass construction. With that in mind, it was unlikely that Sammy would embark on a radical design shift again for the follow up Galaxy S7, and so it proves as these reportedly official renders prove.
Leaked by noted (and often correct) tipster, @EvLeaks, the images show the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in all their official and ready to launch glory. As you can see, changes compared to last year’s S6 are minor, which again is not necessarily a bad thing and was to be expected. We are still getting a beautiful smartphone regardless.
The regular Galaxy S7 looks almost equal to its predecessor, but the Galaxy S7 Edge while looking aesthetically the same will reportedly have a screen bump from 5.1-inch on the S6 to 5.5-inch. The image you see above seems to support that idea.
Samsung’s upcoming flagship will be launched at the end of February at MWC and will come with Samsung’s new Exynos 8890 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (depending on market) CPU. Other specs include 4GB of RAM, Quad HD screen resolution, a 12 megapixel camera, and Samsung is upping the ante this time by apparently including micro-SD support and waterproofing.

LG Smart Notice Caused Security Flaw in G3 Flagship
LG’s Smart Notice is a nice idea that for the most part is badly executed because it never quite works how it should. LG has stuck with it though and the widget has been available on all the company’s smartphones over recent years. However, it seems at some point the frustrating software was actually flat out dangerous.
The widget was lacking a feature that checked security when passing new contact information to a LG G3, the company’s 2014 flagship. It seems the problem was unique to that particular handset, and as you may has noticed we have been writing in past tense. Yes, that’s because LG says it has already solved this problem in a previous patch.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Landing on Feb. 21 at MWC
We have yet to get the 100% official confirmation on anything regarding the Samsung Galaxy S7, yet we still know everything about the upcoming flagship. We know how it looks, what specs it has, and we now even know when it will launch.
It’s not much of a revelation from Evan Blass (notoriously accurate tipster) that the Galaxy S7 will make its strutting debut on the smartphone scene at the Mobile World Conference at the end of the month. Indeed, MWC 2016 has long been the mooted place for Sammy to debut the handset, but still, it’s nice to get a little more confirmation.
Blass tweeted a leaked image of Samsung’s event invite, showing that the Galaxy S7 will be making its debut on February 21, the day before the full MWC trade show kicks off.
Smartphone sales a continuing their record breaking yearly trajectory says the IDC and the market is showing little signs of slowing, even though it should be. Indeed, considering around 25% of the world’s population now owns a smartphone, there seems to be little more room for growth. However, the nature of the smartphone market that sees consumers want to upgrade yearly still works hugely in its favor.
That’s the news from the IDC, which says sales of smartphones in 2015 reached a whopping 1.44 billion, which is a record and a fairly massive 10.1% increase compared to 2014. During the last three months of the year, 399.5 million handsets were sold, with Samsung out in front, followed by Apple.
The interesting thing is that those two giants are still leading by some distance, but the evidence is that the market is now brimming with competition. Saturation some might say, but then again it seems the likes of Samsung and Apple are not going to have it all their own way in coming years as customers now have a dizzying choice of quality products to choose from.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Coming to MWC
We have waited ever so long for Xiaomi to finally launch the Mi 5 flagship, and after a year it seems the Chinese company will be unveiling the device next month, with the handset due to be launched at MWC in Barcelona.
To add fuel to the fire, a box that seems to be for the Xiaomi Mi 5 when it is sold at retail locations. As we know by now, and as the box suggests, the Mi 5 will be like all Xiaomi handsets and will only be launched in Asia.
Is the wait between the Xiaomi Mi 4 and the upcoming Mi 5 the longest we have had to wait for a flagship update from a major brand? We'll let you guys answer that, but needless to say nearly 20 months after launching the Mi 4 we are pretty enthused to see what the Chinese brand has cooked up with the Mi 5.
The handset is expected to launch in the coming weeks, which means it has been subject to a torrent of leaks of late. Arguably the most substantial yet it this, an image that purports to show the Mi 5 out in the wild for the first time. Comparing it to previous image leaks and just the general look, we are inclined to believe this is the real deal.
Yes, we can already see the iPhone influences and the Mi 5 does not look like it is going to change the design game in any big way, but then Xiaomi has never been a company to do that. You can expect a classy metal build of course, but the Chinese company has always been about combining blazing specs with affordability.
The device is set to launch on February 22nd (confirmed by Xiaomi), so we will have to wait until then to know the price, but the specs are much surer. Xiaomi has crafted a high spec'd device for sure with some cutting edge hardware packed into the chassis.
Screen: 5.2-inch Quad HD display
SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820
Platform: Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 7.0
Cameras: 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera
Battery: 3,600mAh
Other features: Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner

Microsoft’s Hardware Slump Continues, 4.5 Million Lumia Sales in Q4
Microsoft has always struggled to become a major player in the mobile hardware market, and it seems no matter what the company does changing the situation may be impossible. Let’s look at the last quarter, which was the fourth of 2015, including the Christmas period, and was the first in which the company’s new Windows 10 Mobile platform and related handsets were launched.
That seems like a recipe that could lead to some breakout success, after-all more consumers splash the cash during the holidays and Windows 10 Mobile is excellent, while the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL flagship are pretty spiffing too.
However, sadly (and I mean that), Microsoft only managed to sell 4.5 million Lumia handsets, a number that also includes devices running the now older Windows Phone 8.1 and earlier builds. That is a huge 49% decrease year on year, while company’s like Apple, Samsung, and Huawei have numbers that are not worth comparing.
Why mention them you may ask? The reason is because they are the companies Microsoft wishes to compete with, but they are companies so far out of reach. It goes without saying, Redmond is not reliant on its hardware sales to make ends meet, so this is likely to be brushed off and the company will try again.
