Rumor: ASUS Looking Into Buying HTC

HTCOnelogo 660x422 640x409 500x319 Rumor: ASUS Looking Into Buying HTC

According to a report from Reuters Taiwanese company ASUS is very seriously considering buying out struggling handset maker HTC.  While HTC has been mounting some form of a comeback as of late they have forecasted a loss for the latest quarter.  This news is especially troubling since their flagship device was released and it's sales should have help them gain a healthy profit.

Asus Chairman Johnny Shih had this to say when asked about the rumored take over...

"Our chairman has chatted about the topic internally, Still, the chances of an actual takeover are not big as Asustek is a company that has depended on organic growth."

While it's just in the discussion stage now it is on the table.  In the ever changing mobile landscape nothing can be ruled out.  If you would have told me a decade ago that Nokia would be bought out by Microsoft I wouldn't have believed you it would sad to see HTC head down the same path.

Is There an Android BlackBerry Coming?

man is silhouetted 500x281 Is There an Android BlackBerry Coming?

It seems that BlackBerry is in the process of throwing in the towel and in a bid to stay afloat they are concerning making an Android device according to Reuters.  This is due to the fact that the BB10 line of phones didn't take off like they would have hoped.

According to the reports there are two sources inside BlackBerry that have confirmed this information.  Also the first device is rumored to be a slider device that will be released this fall in the US/Canadian Market.

BlackBerry has just announced that it is cutting it's work force even further than it's current low of only 6,225 employees.   If this report is true I personally beleieve BlackBerry would drown even quicker that it currently is.  BB10 is a fine a really great operating system that carries the buttonless features like MeeGo.

New 2015 Motorola Moto X Leak

Motorola is known to be developing the 2015 version of its Moto X flagship smartphone, leaked images from last week revealed the device for the first time. A week on, we are now getting another image and it seems to show that the handset will not have a fingerprint scanner after-all, so what was that big hold cut out of the rear plate of the first image for?

Well, it seems that the previous leak actually showed an engineering model and nowhere near the finished article. This new leak purports to reveal a design that is much closer to a final version of the 2015 Moto X.

The new Moto X is expected to land with a Quad HD screen and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 with 3GB of RAM, it will be likely be launched during September.

DoCoMo Places Sticker Warning for Overheating Devices with Snapdragon 810

qualcomm snapdragon DoCoMo Places Sticker Warning for Overheating Devices with Snapdragon 810
Qualcomm is having a terrible time because of its Snapdragon 810 processor and things are going from bad to worse. The newest flagship processor from the company has been causing overheating problems in smartphones, and while it is something Qualcomm denied on newer versions there has been evidence of overheating in the new Sony Xperia Z3+. To make matters worse, Japanese carrier DoCoMo (the largest in the country) is piling on the pressure by putting an overheating warning on smartphones with the Snapdragon 810.

There are three smartphones in the company’s portfolio that run the Snapdragon 810, the Sony Xperia Z4, Sharp Aquos Zeta SA-03G, and the Fujitsu F-04G. Those handsets will now come with a stickered warning from DoCoMo, and we have to wonder how many carriers will follow this lead.

The sticker offers advice, such as use a tablet in your house instead of your handset, while also adding that the device should be turned off while charging. That certainly helps prevent overheating, but it is a shocking situation for handsets that cost hundreds of dollars. Qualcomm is reeling from this chipset and we imagine manufacturers who used it are losing some trust in the company.

Windows 10 Mobile to Launch in September

Microsoft revealed that Windows 10 will be launching on July 29th at its Build developers conference back in April, but Redmond did not say when the mobile specific version of the software will arrive. Thanks to Neowin, that information is now known as the company reported that Windows 10 Mobile will launch in September.

The information was gleaned from a Microsoft presentation where one of the slides said "Windows Mobile SKU's will be available late next quarter". We are currently in the second quarter (ending June 30th) and the third quarter runs July through September, meaning “late next quarter” likely means Windows 10 Mobile will get a September launch.

Microsoft is also expected to launch some new smartphone during September, including the Lumia 940 flagship, and these new handsets will run Windows 10 Mobile out of the box.
